Jacob “Tuesday” Willson – Creative Writer, Marketer, and Content Strategist

Hello and thank you for being interested in looking at my portfolio!

I graduated from Utah Valley University with a Creative Writing degree in 2022. Since then I’ve developed my skills as a marketer and can provide those skills to you.

I’m experienced in copywriting, creating ads, SEO and AEO, writing scripts, long and short form content, social media community management, and many other aspects of content creation. If you’re interested in working with me email me at TuesdayTastic@gmail.com so we can discuss further.

Freelance Work

Here are some ads that I have created as part of my freelancing.

Elevate Paint Pros – Marketing and Sales

Elevate Paint Pros is a small local painting business in northern Utah that I helped with the design and content of their website and social media. I wrote most of the articles on the website and doubled the amount of monthly visitors we were getting. I also would travel to job sites to collect video and photo media to use as part of this content. I created short form content for instagram, a couple of infographics, and I’ve also had articles written and published in the Living magazine for Fruit Heights.

Tuesday delivered high-quality blog and magazine copy that perfectly fit our brand voice. He’s professional, consistent, and easy to work with. I would highly recommend him to any business owner! – Greg Chung Owner of Elevate Paint Pros

Super Smash Bros YouTube Channel

After graduating with my degree I decided to pursue creating a YouTube channel. I wanted to create a series for the video game Super Smash Bros Ultimate. However, I recognized that the audience for that kind of content would much rather watch a video instead of reading an article. So I taught myself how to use Adobe Premiere Pro and since then created a YouTube channel that has gained 1.7 million views in 3 years.

Thanks to my understanding of branding I was able to successfully market the series to the Smash Bros fanbase. I understood that there was a term in the community called a “Character Crisis”. It is a well-known expression within the community but there were only a few videos covering the subject. I then created a content strategy that involved a unique thumbnail style (Smash Bros characters featured in a minimalist way) and consistently posting high-effort videos to create a loyal fanbase. I currently have 9.2k subscribers and my long form content has gained 500k total views. My most popular video in this series is about Kirby.

As of last year I also began creating short form content with another series of mine called “Smash Crash Course”. This series aimed to provide competitive insight that is informative in a minute or less. Within 6 months of starting and finishing the series I earned 1 million views.

Dungeons and Dragons Lairs of Legends Series

I first began writing for one of my hobbies Dungeons and Dragons. I wanted to create content that would inspire other players of the game and aimed to teach other Game Masters what I knew. My Lairs of Legends posts were a series of articles that consistently did very well on Reddit. I was able to identify what the community wanted and deliver on that kind of content consistently and successfully.

Magic: the Gathering Infographics

Another hobby I wrote for was a different game called Magic: the Gathering. I wrote for this game for years but eventually I created an infographic because I was frustrated with how many products were being released by the company. It was directly hurting the quality of the other products, while also being too much for me to keep up with. The infographic went viral and may have been the inspiration behind a graph that Bank of America made regarding Hasbro.

Recently I decided to make another version of the infographic that was updated to be color-blind friendly and made so I could discuss the proliferation of outside IP’s in Magic: the Gathering. These were both created using the software GIMP.
